We have all heard you need to drink more water for your skin. There are some who believe it helps with acne (myth), and while it is important to your overall health, I personally feel like it shows up the most in fine lines and wrinkles when you don’t drink enough water. When you are properly hydrated, it really does show in your skin. Your skin will look more plump, which in turn fills in fine lines more. It also helps with your overall “glow”.
Drinking water on its own won’t give you a glow though. Contrary to popular belief, the volume of water you drink doesn’t really matter. What matters is how your body absorbs the water you are drinking. For best absorption of water, drink it on an empty stomach. Drinking water on an empty stomach can get it to your blood stream in as little as five minutes.
Another way you can help get the optimal benefits of water, is by adding a pinch of sea salt. Sea salt is high in magnesium, potassium, calcium and sodium (all essential minerals for your skin and body health). In addition to helping you hydrate, it also helps with your trace mineral consumption, which is something most American’s are deficient in. Trace minerals help the functions of your heart, brain and muscle health. So… super important. I love this brand of sea salt.
Another way you can get really hydrated is by adding an electrolyte supplement to your water. This one is my absolute favorite. The ingredients are much better for you and its not just a mini packet of sugar, like some other brands out there. Coconut water is also a great alternative if you’re looking for the most natural form of electrolytes. I love this brand.
